Titus and the Young Believers in Crete

Preacher: Daniel Davey Scripture: Titus 1:1–9

Paul has just been released from prison in Rome (c. AD 62), and he knows his time is short. He crisscrosses a number of major Romans cities encouraging the believers, evangelizing the lost, and depositing his close associates to carry on the work while he continues to travel. Crete was a significant island in the Mediterranean Sea with 20 major cities that did not get along. However, there were a number of young believers that needed to be molded into local assemblies carrying out a ministry of grace in these towns. After leaving Titus to continue the work, he immediately wrote him this short letter to grant him the apostolic authority to properly organize the church.
