Pray Like Paul

Preacher: Thomas Swope Scripture: Colossians 1:9–14

In this text, Paul concludes his prayer for the Colossians by asking God to fill them with the knowledge of his will. The Colossians were facing pressures from false teachers, so Paul believed the best way he could pray for them was not that God would remove the false teachers, or that God would protect the Colossians from the lies, but that God would enable them to clearly understand what He desires to do in the world through Christ. When we pray for others facing testing circumstances, we should imitate Paul’s prayer-priorities by asking God to fill them with the knowledge of his will, then they’ll be able to live in a manner worthy of the Lord.
