Passage: Genesis 4
Series Sermon #4: Genesis 4 is framed by dual murders--Cain's murder of his brother Abel and Lamech's murder of a young man. By arranging the chapter in this way, Moses reveals what became of the good creation of God. Men and women degenerate into further wickedness in the line of Cain and reveal the marks of those who follow the evil one in rebellion against God. At the end of the chapter, however, is a brief narrative account of the birth of Seth. As a representative of the seed of the woman, people in Seth's line begin to call on the name of the Lord.
