Series Sermon #19: After Jesus is rejected at Nazareth, he goes to other villages and send out his disciples two-by-two. As he sends them, he instructs them about how they will be received. Some will welcome them; others will reject them. Mark then uses the story of John the Baptist’s martyrdom as a further her description of the nature of the rejection that Jesus’s followers might face. Believers should not be surprised when the people who reject Jesus also reject them.
