The Principle of Flexibility (Part 2)
Preacher: Brent Belford Series: 1 Corinthians: Pursue Love Scripture: 1 Corinthians 10:27–30
Series sermon #31: What does it look like to be “in the world, but not of it?” In an effort to answer this kind of question, Paul presents 3 practical scenarios to help believers properly relate to others. These scenarios take place in three different locations (idol temple [14–22], meat market [23–26], home of an unbeliever [27–30]). If the Corinthian believers follow his counsel, proper living is possible. These three sections teach us the importance of being flexible ourselves and allowing flexibility to others in how they relate to the lost in amoral situations. In other words, they help us know how to be relevant in our culture without compromise.
