If you'd like to know more about the beliefs and philosophy that drive our church, or are interested in joining our church as a member, Membership Matters is for you.

Membership Matters is a 2-session class for adults and teens taught by our pastors and offered roughly every quarter (2 consecutive Sundays during & following our Adult Bible Study hour). During these sessions, you will have the opportunity to learn more about our beliefs and ministries, and meet our pastoral staff. Anyone is welcome to attend. We do not assume that all who attend the class will ask to join the church, but anyone desiring to become a member of CBC needs to go through the class. At the end of the two sessions, we have a special service dedicated to welcoming new members into the fellowship.

Our next class is September 15 & 22 from 11am to 1pm. Childcare is provided, as well as light snacks. These classes will be followed by a What's Next class on September 29 from 11am to noon.

Why is church membership important?

  • It indicates that you accept responsibility for the spiritual health and growth of fellow believers in the family of God (Gal 6:1-2; Eph 4:16; Heb 10:24-25).
  • It makes you accountable to mature brothers and sisters in Christ for your walk with God (1 Cor 5:1-4).
  • It clearly designates you as one of the flock for which our pastoral team will provide care (Heb 13:17).
  • It declares that you are sacrificially committed to a shared vision for doing ministry with the other members of Colonial Baptist Church (Acts 2:42-47).
